2.      Gator Launch Mentoring for STEM Majors
Gator Launch is a professional development opportunity for underrepresented second and third-year students interested in exploring Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) careers.

Starting Fall 2010, Gator Launch participants will:
  • participate in monthly professional development seminars
  • meet with their career mentor every other month
  • job shadow a mentor in their career field of interest
The term “underrepresented” includes gender, economic status, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity and any other identities that are not well represented in STEM fields. For application instructions, click to www.crc.ufl.edu/GatorLaunch. Apply now for Fall 2010!

3.      Intel Corporation Scholarship opportunity (Grad Students)

As you're making plans to complete financial aid for the upcoming school year, please take the time to explore fellowship opportunities with Intel Corporation.

Intel and GEM (National Consortium for Graduate Degrees for Minorities in Engineering & Science) partner together with other companies, to sponsor students through funding to help them obtain their Masters or PhD degrees.

Qualifications for GEM Support:
*  Students  must have  >3.0 GPA
*  Your University must be GEM approved
*  Scholars must complete paid internship with their sponsoring company

7.      Become a Mentor
Are you a graduate or undergraduate student (Juniors and Seniors) looking to give back to the UF community through mentoring incoming freshmen or sophomores? Well here is your opportunity. The BSU Mentorship Cabinet is looking for professional and involved students in all areas of campus that are willing to be mentors to underclassmen to help guide them in achieving their goals and accomplishing their future endeavors. If you are interested, applications are now available on the application clearing house website at https://www.union.ufl.edu/involvement/applications/ Applications are due no later than September 10th and interviews will be held on September 13th and 15th at various times. If you have any questions, feel free to e-mail us at mentorship@ufbsu.org.
 
8.      Be a Pre-Collegiate Initiative Coach
As part of our fulfillment to "positively impact the community" NSBE offers programs to kids in elementary and high school through the Pre-Collegiate Initiative. In October 2010 for NSBE week, high school students will be participating in the Trimathelon. In order to make this a success, we need 16 coaches for each group of students. 9.      University of Michigan, Engineering Graduate Symposium (Grad Students)
 
The University of Michigan will host our annual Engineering Graduate Symposium on Friday, November 12, 2010, www.engin.umich.edu/gradsymposium<http://www.engin.umich.edu/gradsymposium>. Travel grants are available for prospective Ph.D. students (flights/mileage, hotels, local transportation, meals).   More than 250 graduate engineering students will present posters on their current research projects. Prospective graduate students are encouraged to attend to learn more about our departments, faculty, graduate student research, admissions, funding and life at the University of Michigan. Please assist us by forwarding this message to students at your institution or national organization.
A short online application process is involved for travel grant consideration. Junior level students will have the highest level of priority. Applicants must reside within the United States. Students should be within 1-2 years of attending graduate school and have a strong interest in research. Those who are invited to attend this fall program will have all their expenses paid. Full details can be found on the website. Students should submit their completed applications by late September:

Project Makeover is a student-run service organization devoted to bettering the low-income learning environments of the Gainesville community. This year, we’ll organize hundreds of volunteers and thousands of dollars to renovate Duval Elementary School!
